Playing as Juan Aguirre, a journalist who is looking for stories about Mexico and his own past during a time of change, conflict, and rebirth. As he walks, talks to people, and takes pictures his way through a historical Mexico, trying to figure out who planned the president’s murder, he will meet leaders and learn about the surrealist art movement. Overall, it has very few reviews, but we have a feeling that it will rise up over time. A unique game that is not to be overlooked with its unique depiction of early 20th-century Mexico.

While the gameplay is similar to a lot of adventure games, Mexico 1921’s unique camera system makes the journey feel more like it happened in real life. Players can’t just press a button to take a picture; they have to first pick the right setting, paying attention to the lens, depth of field, and exposure. This makes the study more interesting and helps players connect with the people and events they come across.

A radio tuned to a poem and magazines and books from the time period are just a few of the historical items in the game that help players feel like they are really in that time period. Aguirre also talks to 35 historical players as he researches his story. These people include the founder of El Universal and artists like Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo.
